US Women’s Oceanic MX Cup team line-up

Four racers will represent the United States at the 2026 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup, which runs March 21-22 in Wonthaggi, Australia.

Led by team captain Lachlan Turner, the United States will also be represented by Jamie Astudillo, Jordan Jarvis and Mayla Herrick at the weekend event. In 2025, the United States surged to a second-place finish — falling just two points shy of Australia — during its debut appearance at the competition.

Christina Denney – US Team Manager

“We look forward to building off of last year’s success at the FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup, and we have a team capable of making significant noise at this year’s competition. These incredible women are the future of our sport, and we are confident they will represent the United States with pride.”

Turner, the reigning Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX) champion, enters her second consecutive year at the event. In 2025, she finished second overall at the competition, the best finish of an American, while going 2-3-2 in motos.

Jarvis finished alongside Turner on the podium at the 2025 FIM Oceania Women’s Motocross Cup, as her 3-6-3 finish was enough to earn third place individually.

Also returning to the team in 2026 is Astudillo, who played a key role in the Americans’ second-place finish in 2025.

Joining the USA team in 2026 is Herrick, who has enjoyed a meteoric rise in the amateur racing ranks. As a member of Team Dunlop Elite, Herrick has captured championships at AMA major events like the Motoplayground Race at Ponca City MX and Spring A Ding Ding.

Laengenfelder renews Red Bull KTM contract

Reigning MX2 FIM Motocross World Champion, Simon Laengenfelder, has inked a fresh deal with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing to remain in orange for 2027. The German claimed the 2025 MX2 title at the final round in Australia and now bids to become the first back-to-back champion in the class for Red Bull KTM since 2019.

Simon Laengenfelder

Laengenfelder will attack the MX2 division again with the works KTM 250 SX-F and with teammate Sacha Coenen also pushing for honors. Simon, 21 years old, has grown with the KTM Motorsport department since his first full-time MX2 season in Grand Prix in 2021.

He seized his first victory in Great Britain for the opening round of 2022 and achieved a top three championship finish. Simon then went on to contend for top honors at the peak of the category in 2023 and 2024 (with two more top-three rankings) before sealing the #1 plate in 2025.

Simon Laengenfelder

“I’m excited to head into another chapter. It has already been quite a few years with KTM support and now another new challenge for this year and the next. For sure it will be exciting and we’re looking forward to start 2026 to see where we are.”

Joel Smets – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager

“We could see Simon’s potential when he was a teenager and began training with some of the factory KTM boys. He went on to prove that potential and applied a lot of hard work to take the championship. Winning it is one thing, defending it another! It will be a challenge for him and for all of us but we’ve had a good winter and I see him even more motivated and he’s pump to prove the title was not a lucky shot. He’s more experience and has stepped it up. I’m really looking forwards to working with him this year and also into the future.”

The 19-year-old Belgian twins registered Grand Prix victories in both the MXGP and MX2 categories in 2025 and are expected to make championship pushes this term with the KTM 450 SX-F (ridden by Lucas in MXGP) and the KTM 250 SX-F (with Sacha in MX2).

Lucas finished as 2024 MX2 runner-up and then excelled as a rookie in MXGP in 2025 to win six races (becoming the youngest ever premier class victor in the process), seal 14 podium finishes and again take a P2 finish in the standings. Sacha banked two wins and 10 trophies in total for his second full-time term. 2025 also marked the first season of both brothers working with Davide De Carli and his Rome-based faction of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing.

Lucas Coenen

“Really pleased to extend my contract with Red Bull KTM and the goal for 2026 is to give the best account of myself every weekend. I want to thank the factory and the team for believing in me and my family, and for doing their best to understand the plan for my career. We know our objectives and will chase them as hard as we can.”

Sacha Coenen

“I’m really happy to sign again with Red Bull KTM but before we think too much ahead; I have to say I am really looking forward to 2026. We’ve made some good steps and I think we are ready to show everybody that we can ride at the front and battle for the world championship. We’ve improved the bike and we’re quite strong. More to come!”

Davide De Carli – Red Bull KTM Factory Racing De Carli Team Manager

“I’m very happy to continue working with Lucas and Sacha for the future. It’s always been a dream for me to have them in our team. I believe that together we can combine our skills and make them shine on the track to write another page in KTM’s history. Our passion for racing drives us to improve every day in every aspect and we are always ready for new challenges. We are ‘ready to race’!”

Vialle and Valin top Sommieres International

The Sommières International provided a pre-season opportunity for riders to get some track time ahead of MXGP kicking off in full force, and it was Tom Vialle and Mathis Valin taking full advantage.

Mathis Valin – Sommieres International

In the MX1 class, the first race win went to Lucas Coenen, with Maxime Renaux and Tom Vialle rounding out the podium. In the second running Vialle was always in control, this time relegating Renaux to second, and nabbing himself the MX1 overall.

The opening MX2 win went to Janis Reisulis, who held off Valin, while a consistent Mano Faure took the final step on the podium. Race two in comparison, saw Valin run away with the victory, taking the overall.

Mathis Valin

“It was a good day at Sommières; I had a good feeling with the track all day long. I was able to post very good lap times, with a gap to my rivals, and in the Superpole I was the fastest ahead of the 450 guys so I was very happy! I came through the pack to battle with the Reisulis brothers in the first moto until I made a mistake and fell; I had a little pain in my arms but I could come back to second at the finish. I grabbed the holeshot in the second moto and won, then we had the Superfinal with the 450s; it was a tough one as I was around twentieth at the start but I pushed hard and was the fastest guy on the track in the last five minutes to come back to seventh. Overall it was a great day and I had fun on this nice track.”

The Superfinal saw was won by Thibault Benistant, despite pressure from Vialle, Lucas Coenen third.

Jake Cannon kicks off season 2026 in France

Team Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki’s Francisco Garcia and Jake Cannon, who will again race the European EMX2 championship this season, enjoyed their first race of the year in MX2.

Australia’s Cannon rode two solid MX2 motos to post 6-5 moto finishes against GP competition to clinch fifth overall.

After losing a lap in an incident in the sticky conditions in race one, the Spaniard bounced back in style in race two to finish second to Valin, the only rider to lap faster than either of the Bud Racing duo.

Garcia completed his day as second-fastest MX2 rider in the combined MX1/MX2 Superfinal to classify fourth on the day despite his first-moto misfortune.

Hunter Lawrence breaks through for maiden 450 SX victory in Texas

Round seven of the 2026 Monster Energy SMX World Championship brought the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship back to the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex for Military Appreciation Night at AT&T Stadium, with two first-time winners emerging from a decisive night in both the 450SMX Class and the opening round of the 250SX East Championship.

Military Appreciation Night at AT&T Stadium

The 450SMX Main Event opened with Cooper Webb and Ken Roczen side-by-side out of the first turn, Webb initially edging the holeshot before Roczen asserted himself on the opening lap to take control. Hunter Lawrence settled into third behind the early leaders, while Eli Tomac began outside the top 10 in 11th.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

Roczen established a measured lead as the front group stabilised, but Tomac made immediate progress, charging to fourth within the opening laps to bring the top four into contention. As Webb pressured Roczen, a small mistake from the Yamaha rider allowed Lawrence through into third, and soon after, the Honda rider was on Roczen’s rear wheel, applying pressure with around 13 minutes remaining. The front four compressed to within two seconds before the race again settled through the middle portion of the 20 Minutes + 1 Lap contest.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

With six minutes remaining, the pace lifted again. Lawrence drew alongside Roczen in the whoops during a renewed attack, only to be delayed by a slower rider. He regrouped and completed the move moments later, taking the lead. Webb then moved Roczen aside for second, but Tomac responded with an aggressive push that took him from fourth to second by passing both Roczen and Webb in quick succession, forcing Webb off track in the exchange. Roczen briefly reclaimed third before Webb fought back to regain the final podium spot.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

Out front, Lawrence built a margin after clearing Roczen and withstood a late push from Tomac inside the final two minutes. Lawrence took the chequered flag 2.8 seconds clear of the KTM rider for his first 450SMX Class victory in his 26th premier-class start, notably in the same venue where he scored his first 250SX victory back in 2021.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

The win made Lawrence the fifth different 450 winner in seven rounds and extended his championship advantage to a slender four-point lead over Tomac. Webb sits third, 16 points behind, with Roczen fourth, 18 points from the lead.

Hunter Lawrence – P1

“It’s cool, but we’ve got a lot of racing left. I’m happy to tick that little box. It’s a huge thank you to my team and everyone that’s around me. We’ve got an amazing group and that’s really the most valuable thing in my program. It takes a whole village to move mountains. Even when you get a sixth place it’s really tough, but man how cool it was racing against all those boys. Me and Kenny [Roczen] had some awesome back-and-forth, Coop [Webb] was right there, Eli [Tomac] was right there. It’s pretty cool racing with the sport’s legends. Awesome.”

Hunter Lawrence
Eli Tomac – P2

“Those first laps absolutely saved my race. I had to make some quick moves there and was able to find those openings to pass two-to-three riders at a time. By lap two or three, I could see the front of the race and thought, ‘I’m okay, I can work with this.’ What a difficult track [it was] tonight. Of course, I fought to the end as much as I could and second is what we had. Thank you to Red Bull KTM – we’ll come back swinging in Daytona.”

Eli Tomac
Cooper Webb – P3

“It was a fun race, for sure, but I’m honestly a little bummed. I was pretty nice and should have been more aggressive with [Roczen] and maybe gotten the pass [for the lead] earlier. It was a sick race with all of us four bunched up there. I tried to make the pass on [Roczen for second] and Eli [Tomac] ended up getting me and ran me off the track, then Kenny got back by me. I kind of lost the tow of [the leaders]. I’m bummed at myself. I saw a few openings I should have taken and I didn’t. I was too patient tonight. Overall, we’ll take it.”

Cooper Webb
Ken Roczen – P4

“I feel like we were riding really well all day. The track was super tricky with big jumps and sketchy whoops, and the dirt looked perfect but was actually very slippery. I came into the weekend feeling sick and my lungs were toast, so I’m pumped with the effort. We executed the start and held strong for as long as possible. A fourth is solid, and there’s still a lot of racing left. If we keep the effort high, we’ll be in a good place.”

Chase Sexton – P6

“I felt more comfortable going into this weekend, and the bike was working great with the adjustments the team has made. My start in the main event made things tough, but I focused on making smart passes and being consistent. I’ve still got a way to go to prove myself, but the team and I are heading in the right direction.”

Aaron Plessinger – P8

“Dallas was better. I think we made some pretty good progress with the bike, but ultimately, I just need to be better. I need to put myself in better positions, and just overall, be better myself. The Heat Race, I got an average start and rode my way to fifth, and then for the Main, I went all the way inside gate, so got a better start. I was running good and then [Jason] Anderson ended up going down in front of me, so that put me back a little bit. And then I had a decent flow going there, but I ended up casing a jump pretty good and kind of ruined my momentum that I had going.
I ended up eighth, but overall, it just needed to be better. We go to Daytona next week, so I am looking forward to that and, yeah, I’ve just got to focus on being better on race day.”

250 Main

The opening round of the Eastern Divisional 250SX Championship delivered immediate drama. Jo Shimoda led early after taking the holeshot in his first race since November surgery to repair fractured and displaced vertebrae in his neck and upper back. Pierce Brown and Daxton Bennick followed, while title favourite Cole Davies went down in the first turn and collected multiple riders, leaving him deep in the field.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

Shimoda sprinted away to an advantage of more than three seconds before a confusing sequence changed the race. Red medical lights were displayed as Shimoda approached the finish line, requiring him not to jump obstacles until cleared. As Shimoda rolled the next lap at reduced speed, Brown and Bennick continued at race pace with no apparent lights displayed, allowing Brown to erase the deficit and take the lead.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

Shimoda resumed full pace and applied pressure for the remainder of the 15 Minutes + 1 Lap Main Event, appearing faster at points but unable to force a clean pass. A final late attempt saw Shimoda dive to the inside line, but he couldn’t maintain the drive, and Brown pulled clear to take the win by 2.4 seconds. Bennick completed the podium, while Seth Hammaker recovered to fourth after involvement in the first-turn incident. Davies produced a strong comeback ride to fifth.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

For Brown, the win was his first Supercross victory in 33 starts, arriving a year after he crashed out of the lead in the 2025 East opener and suffered a fractured vertebra that ended his season.

2026 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship – Round Seven – Arlington, Texas

Brown leaves the opening round leading the 250SX East standings by three points over Shimoda and five over Bennick.

Pierce Brown – P1

“I don’t even know where to start. There were so many nights where I didn’t think this would be possible. Missing a year, especially with the injury I had, it’s pretty degrading. It’s a scary thing to come back from and there were a lot of doubts. I’m just thankful I never stopped fighting. Every day this offseason we put our best foot forward. Wow. This is…amazing.”

Pierce Brown
Jo Shimoda – P2

“I saw the red [medical] light come on and you’re not supposed to jump that, so I don’t know what happened. We’ll review it. Overall, it was a good one for me. I felt rusty all day, to be honest, but my adrenaline kicked in for the race. It’s a good way to start.”

Daxton Bennick – P3

“Arlington was good!  struggled a little bit in the first practice just getting comfortable with being at the races again, and then in the second one I felt a lot better – I found a flow that really worked for me and I was gelling well with the bike. Its power was awesome and allowed me to get that three in, which only a handful of us were able to do in that big rhythm lane. My starts today were great too – and felt very repeatable – which I am stoked about. In the Main Event, I put my head down, got into a good position off the start, and went to work. I wish I could’ve been a little better in some areas to maybe win, but it is the first round and I kept that in mind, but I think we have some good results coming and I’m happy with how my night went.”

Seth Hammaker – P4

“It felt awesome to finally get back to racing, coming back from my injury. I was really happy with my speed all day, and winning the heat race was a big steppingstone into the season. The main event was a little chaotic with my start and bumping into another rider, which made me struggle with finding a good flow, but I stayed up front in the Top 5 and kept fighting. We’ve got a really good base to build from, and I’m excited to keep this momentum going into Daytona.

Drew Adams – P6

“It was a pretty good day all around. My goal at the end of the night was just to get better every time I was on the track. It’s hard to make passes with the dirt conditions being so fresh, and I had to work my way through a lot of riders, but I stayed patient and focused on my goal. I’ve got a few things to work on this week, but I’m looking forward to coming back strong for the team in Daytona.”

2026 FIM SuperEnduro Round Five – Serbia Wrap

An exciting moment in the history of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship saw Belgrade host the first-ever GP of Serbia in style. The Belgrade Arena, filled with 10,000 passionate and SuperEnduro-hungry fans were treated to what proved to be an incredible night of racing.

Continuing his unbeaten run of form, Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Billy Bolt moved closer to securing his sixth world title by claiming maximum points in Serbia.

Billy Bolt
Billy Bolt

The FIM Junior SuperEnduro World Championship saw Spain’s Manuel Gómez take his debut overall victory, while also putting Stark Future onto the top step of the podium for the first time. Poland’s Wojtek Walczak (KTM) strengthened his grip on the Youth Cup class with a double race win.

Superpole

Remaining unbeaten in SuperPole, Bolt collected his fifth fastest time of the 2025/2026 season in Serbia. Quickest in the morning’s Timed Practice, Bolt was the final rider to take to the track for SuperPole and looked to better the benchmark set by Triumph Factory Racing Enduro Team’s Jonny Walker.

Billy Bolt

A brilliant lap by the Husqvarna rider saw him edge out Walker in second by a sizeable 1.3 seconds. With Walker second, it was the Stark Future duo of Eddie Karlsson and Toby Martyn who finished third and fourth, respectively.

Making their respective returns to racing, X-Grip Racing’s Ashton Brightmore took fifth, with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Manuel Lettenbichler sixth. A final corner crash knocked X-Grip Racing’s Mitch Brightmore down to seventh.

Final One

Immediately making amends for his SuperPole crash, Mitch Brightmore grabbed the Diverse Extreme Team holeshot for Prestige Final 1. With Brightmore holding the lead on lap one, Walker, Martyn, Karlsson and Bolt all jostled for position.

Mitch Brightmore

A charge by Bolt moved him into second, before jumping past Brightmore on the rock garden to take the lead. Building a comfortable advantage, Bolt saw his work undone with a crash with one-minute and one-lap to go.

Remounting with his lead intact, he held enough breathing room to continue on to win Final 1. Behind him, Brightmore held off attacks from Walker and Martyn to claim second. With Walker third, Martyn placed an impressive fourth, with Karlsson fifth.

Final Two

For the second Prestige final, it was Beta AG Racing’s Alfredo Gomez who secured the all-important Diverse Extreme Team holeshot, ahead of RIEJU Factory Team’s Dominik Olszowy in second.

Eddie Karlsson

Olszowy overtook Gomez in the rock garden to lead, as the Stark Future duo of Karlsson and Martyn, plus Walker and Bolt, chased him down. Within a lap, Karlsson pushed his way in front of Olszowy, and as the RIEJU rider fought back, it was Walker who capitalised on both riders to force his Triumph into the lead.

However, Bolt was on a charge, and mirroring his move in Final 1, he jumped past Walker exiting the rock garden to begin lap four in the lead. From there, Bolt was mistake free and raced to a comfortable win. Behind him, Walker collided with a back marker and slipped back to fifth, while Karlsson and Martyn went on to finish second and third, respectively, with Mitch Brightmore fourth.

Final Three

The third and final Prestige race had the 10,000-strong spectators inside the Belgrade Arena on their feet. Martyn grabbed the Diverse Extreme Team holeshot, but it was short-lived, with his Stark Future teammate Karlsson racing past him in the rock garden.

Caught in traffic off the start, Bolt was in overdrive as he raced his way forward in commanding style. Mixing up his lines to avoid the deepening holes, he worked his way past Martyn for second on lap four and set about closing the gap to Karlsson.

Billy Bolt

Two laps later, the Husqvarna rider was leading and would go on to secure his third race win of the night. In the fight for second, Mitch Brightmore got by Karlsson with three laps to go, forcing the Swede to settle for an eventual third. Martyn finished two seconds behind in fourth, while Walker was fifth.

Overall

For the fifth time in succession this championship, Bolt claimed the top step of the Prestige podium, while also becoming the first-ever winner of the SuperEnduro GP of Serbia. Strong and consistent when it counted, Mitch Brightmore raced his way to second overall.

Prestige Podium at the SuperEnduro of Serbia

Claiming his second visit to the podium this season, Karlsson completed the top three. Delivering arguably his best performance of the championship to date, Martyn went 4-3-4 for fourth overall. Hampered by crashes, Walker had to settle for fifth.

Juniors

The FIM Junior SuperEnduro World Championship saw a landmark moment for Manuel Gómez and Stark, with the pairing claiming their first-ever overall win in SuperEnduro.

Juniors – SuperEnduro of Serbia

A dramatic morning, which resulted in championship leader Milan Schmüser (Beta) fracturing his lower right leg in a crash, immediately opened the doors for a new overall winner and potential championship leader to emerge at the GP of Serbia.

In Final 1, it was Spaniard Gómez who took the holeshot, but with Britain’s Toby Shaw (GASGAS) right behind him, the duo began to battle for the race lead.

On lap two, Shaw found his way to the front and despite Gómez’ best efforts, pulled clear to win by over four seconds. Britain’s Fraiser Lampkin (Beta) held off the United States’ Niko Piazza (Triumph) to secure third.

Britain’s Burts Crayston (KTM) initially led Final 2, with Lampkin starting strongly in second. A crash by Shaw dropped him back to seventh, and with ground to make up.

Applying pressure, Lampkin took control of the race lead for three laps before losing out to Gómez, with the Stark rider going on to win Final 2. Claiming his best race result of the season, Lampkin held off Germany’s Henry Strauss (KTM) to take second.

With it all to play for in Final 3, Piazza took the holeshot, before losing out to Gómez in the rock garden on lap one. Shaw later overtook Gómez in the matrix to take up the race lead, with the young Brit racing ahead to an eight-second margin of victory over his Spanish rival, with Lampkin taking third.

Thanks to his 2-1-2 scorecard, Gómez was able to edge out Shaw for the overall Junior class victory in Belgrade by one point, marking a debut win for both the Spaniard and Stark in SuperEnduro.

Juniors Podium – SuperEnduro of Serbia

Finishing as runner-up, Shaw is now tied for the championship lead with Schmüser with two rounds remaining. After a strong performance in Serbia, Lampkin was rewarded with a debut podium in third. Strauss and Piazza finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Youth

Firmly asserting himself as the rider to beat in the Youth Cup class, the SuperEnduro GP of Serbia marked a double victory for championship leader Wojtek Walczak (KTM).

Youth – SuperEnduro of Serbia

Looking strong from the off in Belgrade, the young Polish rider quickly worked his way up to second in Final 1 behind Spain’s Eneko Martinez (Beta). Piling on the pressure, he took the lead on lap five to ultimately secure the opening race win. Behind him, Martinez finished second, with Austria’s Luca Kropitsch (KTM) riding well for third.

In Final 2, it was Kropitsch who took the holeshot. Britain’s Connor Watson (Sherco) quickly moved past Kropitsch to lead. With Walczak into second, the duo battled hard for the duration of the race.

However, a big mistake by Watson on the penultimate corner saw him run off the track. Unable to rejoin the course in the correct way, a five-second penalty pushed him back to second, with victory awarded to Walczak.

Martinez finished third. With two race wins in Belgrade, Walczak topped the overall Youth Cup podium in Serbia, ahead of Martinez in second, with Kropitsch third. Watson and Hungary’s József Halasi (KTM) completed the top five.

Youth Podium – SuperEnduro of Serbia

The 2025/2026 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship now heads to Newcastle, United Kingdom, for the sixth and penultimate round of the season next weekend, February 28.
